The position
The position is full time  for one year and will start at July 1st 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter. The appointment will be at the Department of Clinical Epidemiology at Aarhus University Hospital and Aarhus University. 
The Department of Clinical Epidemiology is a highly specialized research department working with clinical epidemiology at an international level. Our mission is to contribute to improved diagnostics and treatment and thus improved patients’ prognosis.


We seek to fulfill our mission by four means:  
1.  Free and independent research at an internationally high level within diagnostics, treatment and prog-nosis
2. Methods development
3. A graduate programme 
4. Counselling of clinical departments and public authorities regarding clinical epidemiology

Your job responsibilities
The position will involve both research (including contract research) and teaching responsibilities. In daily work, the clinical specialist will work closely with other epidemiologists, clinicians, and statisticians on a giv-en project, in Denmark and internationally. 


The main tasks are: 
•    Serve as a day-to-day investigator for national studies (reproductive child development and neurolog-ical disorders, neonatal hyperbilirubinæmi, including contribution to and oversight of preparation of the required approvals and data applications for studies conducted in collaboration with academic or public stakeholders and industry
•    Develop from start and contribute to internally and externally developed standard scientific documen-tation, including study protocols, statistical analysis plans, and reports in ccordance with deadlines
•    Collaborate in various research roles with national and international academic and contract research organisations, primarily on studies on reproduction, nutrition, and medical treatment using routinely collected health data, and self-reported data 
•    Collaborate with internal and external experts to ensure each project receives the necessary clinical, statistical, and epidemiologic expertise, and adequate data quality
•    Take the lead on (co-)authoring relevant peer-reviewed articles to ensure judicious interpretation of the study results and timely publication of important epidemiologic evidence
•    Develop own research agenda and seek research funding
The composition of the tasks may vary according to the department’s research priorities but will ensure that the employee will gain further qualifications within research. 


The candidate
The successful candidate will have Academic qualifications at PhD level or equivalent with strong formal train-ing in epidemiologic methods in one or more of the following areas: reproductive-epidemiology, nutritional-epidemiology, and pharmaco-epidemiology
•    Advanced training in epidemiologic principles and methods; ability to apply these methods correctly in studies; and capacity to judiciously interpret findings from studies that use these methods 
•    Experience in collaborating with other national and international research groups in reproductive epi-demiology, including effective and productive work collaborations with various stakeholders in aca-demic and non-academic sector 
•    Experience planning, designing, coordinating and implementing – from development of protocol and statistical analysis plan to publication - epidemiologic studies using routinely collected and self-reported data and applying state-of-the art epidemiologic methods
•    Strong analytical and writing skills and a track record of scientific publications and conference presen-tation of research 
•    On a personal level the successful candidate will
•    Be mature, ambitious, take ownership, and possess good communication and interpersonal skills
•    Work independently, be responsible, and be capable of planning one’s own work
•    Supervise and plan the work of study coordinators, statisticians, epidemiologists, and calling for rele-vant clinical expertise when necessary
•    Be able to plan and oversee successful implementation of long-term multi-stakeholder projects
•    Possess fluency in oral and written English

Salary and employment conditions in accordance with the applicable collective
agreement. The employment is conditional on a satisfactory child certificate.
